Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

When I was a teenager, I loved watching The Waltons on television.  Their nighttime routine of calling a “goodnight” out each family member was such a warm way to end their weekly program. As a fan to this day, I subscribe to a FaceBook fan page where the actors still keep in touch with one another and with those of us who still follow their stories.  It is a form of family.

The author of Hebrews encouraged the receivers of his letter not to neglect meeting together, but to encourage one another. There is truly something special and powerful in meeting together in person, even if in person is a Zoom call!  Covid set us all back in many ways, and some of us are still struggling with those set-backs.  It can be hard to re-engage.

One thing that I believe our church does well is to offer a myriad of ways to connect. If you are uneasy, or unable, to get out in person, we have a Sunday night Zoom Bible study on the book of Daniel. On Tuesday evenings, we have our ladies Bible study, also on Zoom. Henry Hopper leads meditation on Mondays in the Parlor. The second Saturday of each month brings us our contemporary service in Fellowship Hall.  I only mention a few options here, but there are many more to be found on our church’s web page!

Without the opportunity to be fed spiritually, and to worship with others, I’m honestly not sure where my walk with God would be. Our Christian journey was never meant to be undertaken alone. We are truly family, meant to encourage and inspire each other to grow and flourish in our faith walk with Jesus.  Find a level of engagement that is comfortable for you, and join the family!  We are truly all in this together.

May you be blessed – and be a blessing in the coming week.
