“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

I was reading recently that this verse is one of the most popular in the whole Bible. I can see why!  It is filled with hope and the comfort of knowing that our Lord wants the absolute best for us.

Last week, we attended our daughter’s graduation from San Jose State University. It was quite a large graduation and the arena was packed. The commencement speaker spoke of new beginnings and carefully choosing a meaningful path. Afterward, families lingered on campus, posing for pictures in front of beautiful backdrops on the campus grounds. While posing for pictures with our daughter, I enjoyed watching the other families as well. Such happiness and smiles!  The vibe on campus that day was one of exuberance!

We all have those monumental shifts in our lives, times when one chapter ends and another begins. Whether it’s graduation, a wedding, the arrival of a baby, new job, or retirement – these are big moments!  It is comforting to know that God is with us through the exuberance of success – and the scariness of change. Every monumental shift brings its own kind of anxiety as we take on roles never experienced before.

Know that you are not alone!  God is with us through each life transition. As Pastor Caroline said in our Saturday evening service, God does not promise a life absent of challenges.  But he does want us to live and serve our best lives!  He has promised his presence and abundant comfort through each season and transition.

May you walk in the knowledge that God is ever by your side!

Have a blessed week!
