“You have looked deep into my heart, LORD, and you know all about me… Before I even speak a word, you know what I will say.” — Psalm 139:1-5

A friend of mine lost her father some years back. She has many wonderful memories from throughout her life regarding her father. He had a special love of dragonflies, and she remembers his fascination for these amazing insects during their times in nature together.  After his passing, with grief still raw, she had a special encounter with a dragonfly. It landed – and lingered – on her arm for the longest time, just resting and letting her enjoy its unique beauty. She felt the presence of her father as she remembered his love for these insects. So close to his passing, the encounter brought her comfort and peace.

Was this just a coincidence?  Perhaps. But perhaps it was a God wink from our heavenly Lord who knows just what we need. According to our focus scripture, and many others throughout the Bible, our God is intricately linked to our lives. Our triune God is a personal being who knows our thoughts before we speak them.

That’s hard for me to conceptualize, but I like that realization!  If we stopped to reflect on our day, I think we’d find many “God wink” occasions – reminders of God’s grace, love, and abiding presence in each moment. To me, they are sacred messages from above. I hear them most distinctly when I am in nature.

Dear Lord, thank you for those little, persistent reminders that you are with us and you care!

We are in California this coming week visiting our daughter and son-in-law. When we return for the week of the 26th, I will again reflect!

Blessings to all on this spring day!
