Christian Education

Youth Sunday School--9 AM resumes September 8th.

Church School for Grades Preschool through Grade 6 begins in room 2 with an Opening where the relationship of the altar colors and symbols to the church year are explained, offering collected, and special announcements made.   Students are then dismissed to their age appropriate classes.

Primary Class (Age 4 thru 2nd grade): Stays in room 2 after Opening.  The curriculum “Holy Moly” is used to illustrate Bible stories using animated videos without narration to allow students to retell the story in their own words. Exploration of the story continues through discussion and leaflets with activities to reinforce the lesson.

Elementary Class (Grades 3-6th grades) Moves upstairs to room 13 after offering.  The lectionary based curriculum “Spark Activate Faith” is used to stimulate the youth’s faith to BelieveSee Do God’s Word plus love and serve others.  Through prayers, discussion questions, hand-on activities, interactive games the youth will use facts & stories about past history, modern-day issues and personal reflections to explore bible stories.  Learning continues with a Take Home Family Page-Read it! Talk about it! Live it!

Teen Class (Grades 7-12th  Grades) Meets in the Youth room. The first half of the year traces the roots of our Christian faith from the early acts of the apostles as was recorded in Acts, and the importance of Paul's letters. Then the persecution, growth and division of the Christian Church up to its present day form. Through it all, teens are asked to look for "what this means to them, in their faith journey in today's world?"  Also, discussion type of class using the series “Groove” Bible study, which is especially written for teenagers encourages teens to learn the essentials of their faith, own story, and engage the world in serving Jesus.  Each of the 11 books in the series covers a different topic and is completed in 6-8 weeks.

The Upper Room Adult Sunday School Class

In the second half of the year, the sessions will examine the Major and Minor prophets and how they voiced God’s plan for His people and announced His continuing presence in the world. All are welcome to come and participate. Each Sunday lesson is a standalone entity requiring no previous knowledge, no homework, and no prior preparation.
